How much would I have to budget, minimum, to travel to London?
I am from America, traveling from Detroit to London. I have found packages that allegedly start at 900 dollars for hotel and air, but after going to the checkout screen, after taxes and fees, it ends up around $1,400. Now, I know about all the tricks like using the Piccadilly Line to travel into London to save money, and using the Eurostar to go to Paris. However, going to London, how much would I need there, assuming I would go to pubs/clubs, museums, historical sites, eat out, etc?
I think at the most, I could part with $3,000, but I’m more willing to do it for $2,000. That hotel and airfare is a killer though. I know there will be additional charges for the visa and OTHER things.
Should I just wait for the exchange rates to go down before considering a London trip? My backup plan is Las Vegas with my friend this summer, it would be MUCH cheaper, and I like cheap. I’m not planning on gambling much. I sowed my wild oats with that years ago, it won’t be a problem.

You didn’t mention the Length of your visit to London but I would say $3,000 you could do 8-12 days depending on what you want to do there. I visited London last October and spent about that much total for 12 days- and that included everything.
Most major museums are Free
do you want a hotel or would you consider a Bed & Breakfast?
Do you want to eat in nicer restaurants or is Pub grub/cafes ok?
I went to 2 Theater Plays/2 comedy shows/ and a music revue ( not a clubber/pub person so I can’t advice about that)
And I went to see a British Talk ( chat show) filmed at the BBC ( free but you must get tickets online)
If you really want to see London then I would say Go! There is sooo much there to do and see.
